Keep Your Passengers Safe from Poisonous Exhaust Gases

While burning gasoline, your car emits poisonous gases, that are colorless and odorless. Normally, the exhaust system in your car takes those gases and safely expels them into the air. However, if the exhaust isn't working properly, those gases could get into the car cabin and cause harm to the passengers. Here are some signs your exhaust system needs immediate attention.

Your engine starts making intermittent hissing or popping sounds. This could be escaping gases coming from the exhaust manifold. You hear a hissing sound coming from the tailpipe. The exhaust system may be blocked or restricted. The repeated heating and cooling of an engine can damage the exhaust manifold gasket. Check around the manifold for leaks. You suddenly need to fill up more often. Reduced gas mileage can signal a problem with the exhaust system.

Have your exhaust system checked out by the service department here at Westgate Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram.
